The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia is seeking a communication manager whose main responsibilities will be:
o To lead the strategic assessment, planning, and execution of research and scientific communications.
o Institute Brand Management: Define & implement strategy. Positioning, Targeting & Messaging. Promotional material, campaigns. Interface with providers.
o Scientific in-house events: responsible for the communications piece and liaise with related units.
o Scientific news: Define and implement strategy.
o Annual Report: responsible for managing the process from information gathering to report publishing.
o Web and Intranet: Web maintenance. Lead task force towards new site (from current). Define intranet (non existent) structure and implement.
o Media: Cultivate and inform journalists about IBEC’s work. Institute spoke’s person.
o Newsletter: Produce and manage IBEC’s newsletter. o Stakeholder’s database: maintain & update.
o Budget: manages own budget. We expect from the successful candidate:
o University degree: Communication, Journalism or Public Relations.
o 5 years of experience involving communicating with the (scientific & general) media and/or public.
o Highly organized, able to go from planning to execution and able to establish priorities and handle multiple tasks.
o Excellent interpersonal skills. Pro-active and innovative. o Excellent oral and written communication skills.
o Knowledge of public relations and public involvement techniques and strategies.
o Knowledge of media relations strategies.
o Knowledge of web-page design & architecture.
o Ability to work independently.
o Strong computer skills.
o Full command of English and Spanish required. Catalan desirable.
IBEC (Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia) is an interdisciplinary research center focused on Bioengineering and Nanomedicine based in Barcelona. IBEC’s mission is to develop national & international high quality interdisciplinary research that, while creating knowledge, contributes to making a better quality of life, improving health and creating wealth.
